Additional info on the artist:

William Augustin Kolliker 'William Kolliker': A twentieth century Texas painter, printmaker and illustrator, William Kolliker moved from his native country of Switzerland to New York City at the age of sixteen.

He began working as an illustrator for such newspapers as the New York American, the Baltimore News & American and the New York Evening Graphic while completing his art studies at the Art Students League of New York and at the National Academy of Design.

Later, William Kolliker assumed the post of art director and editor of The American Weekly, and remained in that position for a period of twenty-five years.

William Kolliker moved to El Paso, Texas, around 1955, first accepting the post of art director of White & Shuford Advertising.

By 1970, however, he had resigned to dedicate all his efforts to creative painting and printmaking.

William Kolliker was a regular exhibitor at the Annual Texas Artists Exhibition and was an influential art instructor at the El Paso Museum of Art.

In 1963 the city of El Paso presented William Kolliker with its Conquistador Award.

Along with his considerable work as an artist, William Kolliker was an avid collector of Pre-Columbian art and artifacts.

His collection is now housed at the International Museum of Art, El Paso.

  1. I found an Original Etching by Kolliker of an owl. I believe it's in it's original frame. The paper on the back states it was framed by Art Center on East Yandell Drive in El Paso, Texas. There is an Original Etching raised stamp on the back bottom left of the picture. He signed it with the date 1967. The piece is named "Nightlife III" and 50/10; not 100, but 10. Can y'all help me? I can send a picture if you need me to.
    thank you, Lisa
